Swine Flu Papercraft

Swine Flu PapercraftWith the increasing number of Swine flu cases here in the US, check out Cubeecraft's PSA and cute papercraft.

No need to panic, the swine flu is just like any your normal flu. Follow these simple tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC to avoid catching / spreading it.

Avoid close contact.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.

Stay home when you are sick.
If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.

Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.

Clean your hands.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

Practice other good health habits.
Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
One more thing, I often see people wearing those surgical masks - according to the CDC, these are quite inadequate in their protection capabilities. A better way would be to get an N-95 Respirator / Flu Mask.

  1. It took about 10 minutes to create this, but I don't think I did too bad a job. No Glue is needed for this papercraft. It's extremely easy.

  2. The N95 filter will only block particles larger than 0.3 microns, so that won't stop a flu virus. If anything would work it would be a gas mask, the N95 is only sold as a "Flu mask" to make a quick profit out of worldwide panic.

  3. @Shay
Already made a couple of them, I'll share pics later

I agree that they wont be able to fully stop a flu virus with these masks, but what I'm trying to say in the post is that the respirators are a lot better, those cheap facial masks are not designed to protect you against breathing in very small particles
