There's been various comic book characters named after the Sandman. DC Comics has two of them and Marvel has one, this is DC Comics version of the Sandman superhero. This version of the Sandman (aka Wesley Dodds) wears a green business suit, gas mask, fedora, and uses a sleeping gas gun to fight the bad guys. It somewhat based on the Sandman character from Western folklore who brings good sleep and dreams to people.
